Topography : Ledges, Overhangs, Two pinnacles with an archway
Marine Life : Soldierfish, Turtles, Turkey (Lion) Fish, Frogfish, Leafscorpions, Butterfly, Nudibrancs (Spanish Dancers) and lots of color and coral. Occasional White Tip Reef Shark, Octopus and Eels
Diveability : Generally calm with no currents. Can have poor Viz due to Rain runoff. This is Dive Kauai's Private Dive Site. No one else on Kauai dives here.
This dive site is unique as it is frequently visited by Dive Kauai. With depths from 15'-52', Camp One has ledges, Overhangs, Two pinnacles and an archway. There's plenty of places for Frogfish, Turkey(lion) fish (up to 9 at one time !) leafscorpion, butterfly fish, nudibrancs (spanish dancers), Turtles, Soldierfish, Eels, Octopus and the occasional White tipped Reef Shark. This site is teeming with life !
Camp One is generally calm with little current, but can have poor visibility (40'-60') due to rain run-off.
Our dive boat runs off the South shore of the Island, which is sheltered by the constantly blowing North East trade winds, making the south side sunny with calm oceans. We meet at 7:45am at Port Allen in the small boat harbor. The usual return time form our dive charters is 12:30-1pm. Afternoon dives meet at 1pm.
Boat dives are two tank dives at two different locations. We do provide a snack lunch. Computers are also available upon request. All tours are guided by a PADI Divemaster/Instructor. We do take specific requests for dive sites and will do our best to meet them according to weather conditions.
Between dive sites we sit and relax, enjoying the tropical sun and watch for whales or dolphins breaking the surface and discussing the marine life encountered during the previous dive site. This is also a great time to raid the snack bar !
Length of dives depend on depths and rate of consumption. Maximum time allowed for each dive is 50 minutes and you must return to the surface before you reach 500PSI.
