A snorkeling site and beginner shore dive.
Go north on Highway 56 past Kilauea right turn to Kalihiwai road. Cross over the Kalihiwai Bridge and then take a right on Kalihiwai Road (the 2nd road with this name). Then take a left on 'Anini Road for about 3 miles and follow it to the beach. The water on one side of the beach is only four feet deep and slowly cascades to over a 100-foot depth on the other side. This beach is one of the safest and most protected along the North Shore of the island. A fringed reef runs the entire length of beach and is Hawaii's longest reef.
Not advisable during winter months due to high surf.
